The birds in the Victorian era represented the woman and were frequently set in floral scenes or nesting - caring for young. This is a lovely example. The objects depicted include; almond, peanut, water caltrop (bat nut?), water chestnut, large chestnut seed,? walnut, what looks like a gourd seed (water jug) and a watermelon seed. I believe I now have these fairly priced to sell.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePerfected by Master Potter Chen Mingyuan in the 18th century, these small sets of seeds are nice examples of the Chinese art of using objects of nature and incorporating them into Yixing wares. Some corrosion? to the \"Director\" portion of the medal and I have not attempted to clean it. The original ribbon is heavily frayed, very delicate and should be replaced.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDieges \u0026amp; Clust were well known jewelers out of New York and produced some very famous medals through the course of their operation to include the 1904 Olympic Medal, Eagle Scout Medal, Titanic Carpathia Medal, Baseballs first MVP award and the Heisman Trophy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Director portion of the pin measures 1 7\/8\" across and 8.7mm high. The medal portion - not including o'rings - measures 31.27mm wide and about 45.5mm high. The medal is high quality and visually just a lovely artistic example of their work.
