Rare & Unique 22K Gold Turquoise Victorian Nugget Bracelet Circa Late 1880'sWhat an interesting rare and unique design. This link style was patented by the maker of February 3rd, 1885. A comparable 14K piece with old mine cut diamonds sold for 2500.00.
This particular piece is 22K gold. It is an odd link style and frankly I am just not sure how you keep the piece on your wrist. The ID of the piece when fully stretched out is just a hair under 7 1/2" but the trick is, how do you get it over you hand - I think it is probably most ideally suited for a 6 to 6 1/2" wrist unless there is some super secret way of opening it that I am just not seeing. This is not a "Stretch Band" bracelet. The links slide in and out without any resistance.
Issues: This has been drilled out on the back side as pictured. The shavings were tested as was the hole that was left. The hole was filled in with 14K gold by my jeweler. This process of heating the link to fill it in has created a rosey gold discoloration to the link. The piece should be professionally polished. Due to the high Karat content, extra measures were taken to verify the metal makeup of the piece. The readings on the piece are consistent throughout at 21.6 to 21.8 Karats Gold which is 22K by industry standards.
Please do review all of the photographs as they are of the actual item you are buying. A photo ID will be required of the actual buyer.
Size: TL is 7 1/2" ID however, because this slips over the hand, your hand size will determine whether you can wear the piece or not unless you have a jeweler create a clasp mechanism to work with the piece. The links are about 8.84mm wide and about 6.7mm high. The connecting bars are approximately 10.25mm across.
Weight: Approx 24.1 grams all inclusive
Hallmarks: Pat. Feb. 3 No other hallmarks could be found. Piece was most likely custom made using the patented design. The comparable piece using the same link mechanism I referred to above was marked Pat. Feb. 3 1885, the gold Karat content of the comparable was not marked. You can use the Patent details to find the comparable bracelet to verify details using Google.
Main Stone: Cabochon Turquoise showing wear consistent with age approx 2.66mm and could stand to be repolished or replaced.
Secondary Stone: None
Notable: Shows wear from age and use.
All of my gold and silver is authenticated before listing for sale. This piece has been xray analyzed using a Niton XRF Spectrometer to ensure the metal makeup meets industry standards for solid gold jewelry. Where appropriate, acid testing has been used as well. You will not buy gold or silver from me that does not meet the industry standards for how the piece is marked unless noted in the listing.
Gemstones have been tested using a presidium gem tester and have not been reviewed, except where noted, by a gemologist so please assume they are lab produced stones as my opinions are only my opinions. Diamonds have been verified using a presidium diamond tester, they have not been sized or graded by a gemologist. All measurements of stones have been done using a digital caliper, are approximate and may not be exact.
