A nice antique framed engraving from the Industry and Idleness series. Scene 5, Idle Prentice Turned Away by William Hogarth and engraved by Thomas Cook. I believe this print was published in 1813 by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown in the Genuine Graphic Works of William Hogarth by Thomas Cook, though this may be a later printing. The engraving is in very good condition with some very light foxing.
The size on this is OD - Frame; 13 1/2" x 12 1/2" - the frame is in good condition with some losses to the gilding.
The ID (Display area) of the mat is about 7 1/2" x 6"
This would make a wonderful gift.
