A fine example of a machine turned guilloch yellow enamel brooch accented with roses. This piece is by Clement Berg of Oslo Norway. It is engraved on the back with one of its former owners names - Signe, show was quite possibly the original owner.
In norway, Signe is primarily a female name of Scandinavian origin that means new victory. Signe is considerred the modern spelling in Scandinavian of an Old Norse name Signy. In Norse mythology, Signy is the name of two different heroines who were both features in the Völsunga saga.
This brooch is approximately 1" across.
