Southwestern Spencer Sterling Silver Gold Filled Bib Feather Turquoise NecklaceI have for sale a rare example of Navajo artisan gold work by Harry Spencer. The total length of the piece is right at 18 1/2" long & the total weight is 15.2 grams. A lovely natural blue turquoise stone is mounted directly in the middle of a yellow gold filled bib.
The chain is made up of elongated paper clip style Sterling Silver links measures right at 6mm long x 2.6mm wide and about .45 mm thick. Each link look to be hand soldered.
The yellow gold filled bib measures right at 2 3/4" across and is a cast piece The bib features a graduated height and measures just about 18.25 mm at it's maximum. On the front of the bib are nice clean etched lines designed to highlights the center focal point; A lovely Turquoise stone. On the back of the bib is the stamp of Harry Spencer and the mark GF.
The Turquoise stone measures right at 13.5mm h x 8.75mm wide and carries a striking blue color with lovely black streaks. I would estimate the depth of the stone to be around 5.5mm.
Extending from one side of the bib are 3 Sterling Silver feather to finish off the beautiful look of this piece.
H. Spencer is listed as a Native American artist in the book 'Hallmarks of the Southwest' by Barton Wright, Originally Published 1989
