Victorian Silver Plated Beaded Change Purse with Watch Chatelaine Belt ClipNifty set. I picked these up together so selling them together. Both pieces show plating loss, wear & tear from age and use.
I'll start with the easy part which is the Châtelaine belt clip. Was most likely used for a pocket watch. Nice meshed design with a crescent moon style linked chain. Some plating loss to the piece. Where the two chains come together the soldier has let go on the two lower balls. Stamped with the letter B inside the bale clasp. There is a makers mark I cannot read stamped on the belt clasp. Anyway, worth the purchase price just for this piece. Measures a little over 4" long and about 1 1/2" wide.
The purse is a beaded base metal purse with knitted fabric. The beads on this are rusting, but unfortunately, I could not get the rust captured in the photo. Some of the knitted fabric is damaged around the opening, but does not affect the functionality of the purse. There is an older fabric repair under the hinge portion of the lid. The purse lid features a fleur de lis which opens to allow you to spread open the cross hinged bottle style opening. One link is broken in half, but it functions as it should. The chain on this may or may not be original. The bottom of the purse features little dangles. Purse measures 4 3/4" high and about 2 1/2" wide.
