Vintage Spinner Pendant w/Necklace Randolph Ghahate Signed Zuni Sterling Silver
I have for sale a rare Ghahate signed Zuni spinner pendant. The piece is signed R. Ghahate on inside of the outer ring. Most pieces are signed by Randolph and Margie both. This particular piece is only attributed to R. Ghahate and would most likely represent an early piece by this Zuni artist.
While not marked, this is a sterling silver piece has been x-ray tested for metal make up and confirmed to be Sterling Silver. The pendant is inlaid with red coral, mother of pearl and what I believe is a green turquoise though the green stone could easily be something else entirely. On one side is a red cardinal and the other side is a green cardinal. The stone color green represents mother earth and would make sense to see a "Male" and "Female" on the piece. The piece measures 38 mm high approximately (to include the bale) and about 30mm wide. The spinner portion is right at 24 mm.
The 18" box chain that was with this when I found it is made in Italy and marked 925. It has a repair area about 2" down from the clasp. This is a piece that I would typically throw in my scrap pile but since it was with the pendant to begin with, I am keeping them together. The price you are paying is for the actual spinner.
As would be expected of a used vintage piece of jewelry, this piece shows age and wear as it was worn and enjoyed.
