Just not sure on the age on this bit. Maybe 1950's? Could be newer for sure, could be older.
Let me start by pointing out the center oval stone is damaged. At some point it "whacked" something pretty hard (probably a husband...lol) and ended up broken in half. The existing center stone is firmly in place, so not going anywhere without some force...but it could fall out when you least expect it. I will consider offers, but I am not going to come off the price a lot as I am always needing quality round opals for antique pieces missing stones and having matched stones available when you have none is quite handy.
Ring measures at the head 14.9mm deep, 13.09mm wide and a rise off the finger of 7.8mm. Has an edge in the design that protrudes about the halfway point from the top of the head. I am not sure if this wasn't a wedding ring and it maybe had an accent that sat on that spot. The band does appear to have been sized before.
The color play on these stones is relatively nice for what the ring is and varies between reds, greens, blues, violets, a little orange and yellow. These are not high dollar opals, but are decent really for the ring. Very very slight translucence to the opals. I have two "make due" potential replacement stones for the center opal. The only main issue is the main opal is flat cut and the replacement opals are cabochon so I am not quite sure about mounting, though I do believe either will work.
Anyway, one opal has a similar look but the color play is not the same and more limited. That stone measures 7.88 x 6.02 x 2.41mm. The colors are still speckled but more diffused.
The other stone is very speckled in color rather than flowing. That one measures 8.10mm x 6.04mm x 2.3mm. You will have to have your local jeweler replace the main stone if either of these will work for you.
Please do review all of the photographs as they are of the actual item you are buying as this is sold as is no return for repair .
